John Lewis Retail POS lightboxes
Slimline light boxes a thing of beauty at John Lewis
W&Co is privileged to have been supplying retail POS lightboxes to UK’s favourite retailer*, John Lewis, since 2006. We have been furnishing their Perfumery and Beauty departments with high quality slimline light boxes. The sleek and stylish POS light boxes have been installed at John Lewis department stores throughout the country, including their flagship store in London’s Oxford Street, and in the prestigious shopping centres of Westfield in Stratford and Bluewater in Kent.
John Lewis chose W&Co’s slimline lightboxes due to their superior build quality, high brightness and even illumination making them perfect for their world class retail display counters. With the introduction of LEDs to new style slimline retail display lightboxes in 2011, the latest LED light boxes are now also helping towards John Lewis’ energy saving targets and sustainability.
John Lewis Glasgow’s Beauty Lighting the Way
John Lewis first utilised W&Co’s slimline retail POS lightboxes in the Beauty department of their Glasgow department store. A series of tall ultra slim T5 tube illuminated light boxes were fitted to prestigious retail showcases and smaller square light boxes were fitted in series around retail merchandising units.
John Lewis was the first major retail outlet to draw upon the flat profile option for the ultra slim snap frame light boxes giving the units a quintessentially stylish and contemporary feel. The overall appearance was stunning and John Lewis’ Retail Design Manager remarked that the, “lightboxes look excellent at Glasgow; everyone is really pleased with the look!”
John Lewis’ Beauty lights up Oxford Street
John Lewis continued with the refurbishment of their Beauty departments by again utilising flat framed, slimline retail POS lightboxes in their flag ship store in Oxford Street. The importance of the lighting, adaptability and ease of use is paramount to the continued use of these ultra thin light boxes. The ability to customise the sizes of the light boxes were important as they needed to be fitted to showcases and merchandising displays which would not allow for a deeper unit. John Lewis wanted their staff to be able to change the graphics with the minimum of fuss and the simple snap frame profile enables a quick and easy change of visuals.
Bluewater illuminated by John Lewis’ Beauty
The nationwide rollout of slimline retail display lightboxes to John Lewis continued, with Europe’s largest retail and leisure destination, Bluewater, in Kent having stylish, flat profile, ultra slim light boxes installed.
The light boxes have been fitted to merchandising units, makeup counters and retail displays for brands including: Clinique, Estée Lauder, Clarins and Lancôme. The brands’ high quality display graphic prints are beautifully illuminated to catch the attention of shoppers in the store. The quality, modern styling and adaptability of sizes of the retail display light boxes continues to prove a success for the prestigious health and beauty environment within John Lewis department stores.
LED retail display light boxes are winning formula at John Lewis Westfield, Stratford Olympic site
The first energy saving LED light boxes to be used in John Lewis were fitted around the perfumery department within their new store located right in the heart of Westfield, Stratford City in London, Europe’s largest urban shopping centre and the gateway to the 2012 Olympic Park.
Standard A2 size LED light boxes were fitted to the columns and various bespoke light boxes were fitted to the merchandising units for various brand concessions including: Chanel, Decléor, Dior, Liz Earle, Lancôme and Yves Saint Laurent. There were also single and double-sided light boxes fitted to plinths to enable free standing illuminated displays which were positioned strategically around the department to bring the products and promotions closer to the browsing customer. John Lewis approved the use of W&Co’s Razor LED light boxes to supersede the T5 illuminated Katana light boxes in the concessions of the new and refurbished perfumery departments. The sleeker flat profile snap frame, higher brightness and, more importantly, lower energy consumption were winning features for the ultra slim LED light box. The use of low energy LEDs in this light box contributes towards John Lewis’ commitment to sustainability and energy savings.
One of John Lewis’ foremost retail designers commented, “The new LED light boxes are excellent,” he continued, “W&Co’s exceptional service has helped our success creatively, financially and sustainably by supporting our business case towards a sustainable design approach to branding.”
Other John Lewis stores, including Newcastle, Nottingham and Reading, have also now been included in the fit out of LED light boxes with other stores planned in the near future.
John Lewis’ Beauty continues to shine with retail display lightboxes
Over the last few years the ultra thin Tanto LED light boxes have been used in John Lewis department stores including: London’s Oxford Street, Exeter and High Wycombe. These LED light boxes were chosen not only because they are very slim (only 24mm deep), but also as the graphics are very easy to change via a lift off magnetic front cover. As the light boxes are front loading they can be recessed into the new stylish trellis-like framework in the Premium Beauty areas.
The Tanto LED light box has the same bright and even illumination as the Razor snap frame LED light box used in the Perfumery department, so a continuity of graphic lighting is maintained throughout both departments.
John Lewis’ LED retail display lightboxes come home to Essex
Following the 2016 opening of Essex’s first John Lewis department store in Chelmsford, W&Co Displays and Signs celebrates the homecoming of their light boxes to Essex as well as 10 successful years supplying to one of the UK’s favourite and best retailers.
Chelmsford has the largest beauty hall out of all of John Lewis’ small full-line department stores, with 14 premium beauty counters including Molton Brown, Estee Lauder, Clarins, Clinique, Lancome, YSL, M.A.C and NARS cosmetics. The branch manager of John Lewis Chelmsford, Laura Rawstron, said, “Fashion and beauty will be John Lewis Chelmsford’s forte and I am excited to announce the brands that will make the shop a key destination for shoppers in Essex.”
